What the declaration is
A formal record of who you are within the church
The Declaration of Indigenous & Ceremonial Practices is a private document issued and signed by our organization. It sets out, in formal written form, that the recipient practices within Indigenous and ancestral spiritual traditions and principles recognized by our organization, and describes the ceremonial and ministerial role they carry within the church.
Many practitioners hold years of ceremonial responsibility with nothing written down. The declaration gives that role a documented form — one you can keep with you as you carry out church and ministerial responsibilities, and one that lives in your organizational record alongside your other church documents.
Where applicable, the declaration also identifies the ceremonial instruments, regalia, feathers and traditional items associated with your practice, so the relationship between the practitioner, the church and those items is recorded rather than assumed.
What the document contains
- Personalized recipient name and church or ministry affiliation
- Issuing organization and its ecclesiastical standing statement
- Recognized Indigenous and ancestral ceremonial practices
- Initiation, recognition or standing within the community, where applicable
- Ministerial and ceremonial duties carried by the recipient
- Ceremonial instruments, regalia, feathers and traditional items, where applicable
- Private organizational seal and document reference number
- Date of issuance and authorized signature of approval
